AMVCA presents attendees with a spectacular cultural exhibition at the beginning of the 2023 edition

The prestigious event took place at the Balmoral Convention Center and Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, which was transformed into a vibrant celebration of culture and beauty. Attendees graced the occasion, dazzling the venue in their resplendent traditional garb, presenting a striking fusion of African heritage and film awards glamour.

Notable attendees included popular figures such as Mercy Aigbe, Yemi Cregx from BBTitans, the charming one juicy jay and thabang, Stars BBNaija liquorose, elozonam, and Saga, the iconic Ramsey Nouah, Uti Nwachukwu, and the Dear Juan Ugbe, CEO of Multichoice Nigeria.

The evening began with a rousing recitation of the Nigerian national anthem by a choral group, which captivated the audience and garnered resounding applause. The stage was then set for an extraordinary display of performances by various cultural groups, captivating the audience with captivating songs, throbbing drums, enchanting chants and mesmerizing dance moves. The fusion of tradition and modernity in this eclectic exhibition left the audience spellbound.

Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Director of West African Content and Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, emphasized that this year’s edition of the AMVCAs aims to raise the bar of recognition and reward for talent in the various arenas of the African film and television industry.

She said, “Last year, we had an eight-day series of activities leading up to Awards Night. This year will be no different. We have decided to keep the momentum going by bringing back all activities. The only difference is that they will all take place within three days.”

After, hosts of the night Nancy Isime and Daniel Etim-Effiong, introduced a contest to determine the best dressed male and female celebrities of the night. The competition featured an impressive lineup, including BBNaija’s White money, Erica, VenitaSaga, Elozonam and the dynamic duo of BBTitans, Juicy Jay and Yemi Cregx, etc. Winners of the coveted title of “Best Dressed Celebrities” at the AMVCA were Yemi Cregx and Venita, an accolade that certainly added to the glamor of the evening.

With the contest concluded, the DJ and the self-proclaimed “god of energy”, do2dtun, took the reins, sending waves of pulsing music through the venue, prompting the audience to jump out of their seats and dance with riotous vibrations.

This year’s edition of the AMVCA features a three-day schedule packed with activities, including master class trainings and a gala fashion night. The awards ceremony will showcase more than 30 categories, spanning more than out of 300 nominations, cementing its position as the most prestigious award in Africa.

The AMVCA continues to uphold its esteemed reputation as an innovative platform that celebrates and recognizes excellence in the African film and television industry, captivating audiences and creating unforgettable moments year after year.
