Michigan score vs. TCU: Live updates, college football playoff scores, Fiesta Bowl 2022 coverage

Date:

No. 3 TCU is on the brink of one of the biggest upsets in College Football Playoff history, as it leads No. 2 Michigan 21-6 at halftime of the 2022 Fiesta Bowl. The Horned Frogs closed as underdogs eight points and led by as many as 18, making big stops in the red zone while taking advantage of Michigan mistakes to take a surprising 15-point lead at halftime of the first CFP semifinal on New Year’s Eve.

Since no team has come back from 18+ points in CFP history (the record being Georgia rallied from 17 points to beat Oklahoma in the 2018 Rose Bowl), the second half is setting up for something epic with any result. Either the Frogs will finish the job and cap their storybook season with a CFP National Championship appearance or Michigan will mount a comeback to go down in history and deliver the first postseason win for Jim Harbaugh since 2015.

Mistakes by Michigan have included a poorly executed trick play on fourth-and-goal on the first possession of the game, a pick six by JJ McCarthy, and a goal-line fumble (recovered in the end zone by the Frogs) after that a Wolverines touchdown was backed up a yard on the replay. In terms of total yardage, this game is close, but Michigan’s inability to convert their scoring chances has been the difference. Keep it locked on CBS Sports for live updates, analysis and highlights from the CFP semifinal at the Fiesta Bowl.
