Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu slams rumor mongers over Genk form

Date:

Onuachu has returned to his great form for Genk after a barren run earlier in the season.

The 28-year-old forward had a rocky start to the 2022/23 season, going on a barren run of six games in front of goal after returning from an injury break.

However, the Nigerian international has bounced back in recent games, scoring four (4) goals in his last three (3) league games for Genk.

In his last outing against OH Leuven, Onuachu scored the only goal of the match as Genk capitalized on Royal Antwerp’s loss to top the Belgian Pro League table.

In an interview with HL as reported by scorenigeriaOnuachu emphasized that he gave his all for his team against Leuven as he looks to return to full capacity.

Onuachu said: “I gave everything for the team (vs OH Leuven). In the end I was finished, but we have a lot of good players who could come in. Little by little I am getting back to almost 100 per cent.”

“I just want to play, have fun and live up to the coach’s expectations. I enjoy the confidence of him.”

Commenting on the rumors circulating about him during his barren spell for Genk, the Super Eagles striker dismissed it, emphasizing that he pays no attention to such news.

“As a footballer you have to be able to live with people talking about you. I don’t mind. I don’t really follow the media,” Onuachu replied.

“It’s simple: I was injured at the beginning of the season and I had to get fit again. It was hard for a while, but I’m a professional.”

Onuachu hopes to continue his great scoring streak when Genk return to action on Tuesday 18 October when they take on KVC Westerlo at their Cegeka Arena.
