Genk have announced the signing of a Nigerian striker from Slavia Prague.
The 22-year-old Nigerian winger who announced to the World Cup in last season’s UEFA Europa Conference League, scoring six goals in six appearances, joins compatriot Paul Onuachu at Genk.
Yira Sor to Genk
Genk announced the signing of Yira Sor from Slavia Prague until 2027 on its official website.
The fee was not disclosed, but the Belgian publication Nieuwsblad reports that the fee ranges between 6 and 7 million euros.
That figure would put Sor just behind Theo Bogonda by €7m as the most expensive signing in Genk’s history.
Sor would train independently at the club’s facilities until the group returns from the break. He would wear the number 14 jersey.
What does Genk get with Yira Sor?
As teams in the European third tier witnessed last season, Yira Sor is a brutally direct striker.
He has a lot of pace and technique, making him difficult for defenders to handle.
Sor has a lot of dynamism in his game and is also very versatile, capable of playing center forward or wing-back positions, and can even play as a midfielder.
The young Nigerian striker also has impressive shooting technique and is not shy about getting in between goals.
The Port Harcourt-born winger was involved in 12 goals in 26 appearances for Slavia Prague.
