I mainly use Opera on my desktop. While I’d love to make Firefox my default, it’s very hard to walk away from the best tab management on the planet found in Opera.

Until Firefox can duplicate what Opera has done with Workspaces, I’ll have to stay closed-source browser.

But Workspaces is not the feature I enjoy in Opera. There is another feature that I have been using lately that makes watching the news very simple.

What I like best about Opera Personal news is that I can cobble together the sources I want and, in a single window, scroll through all the headlines from those sources and click to see the articles I want.

This prevents me from having to open one site after another to see the news I want or need. It’s all about convenience, and it does a great job of that.

One thing to note is that not all news sources are available for Opera Personal news. Even so, it has a great collection of news to choose from. In fact, in about five minutes, I had a collection of 22 news sources to view. It is that simple and convenient.

Let me show you how to access Opera Personal’s news feature and how to add sources, so you can see only the news you want from a single entry point.

Requirements

The only thing you will need for this is a running instance of the Opera web browser. That is. Let’s read some news.

The first thing you need to do is open the Opera web browser on your desktop. If you haven’t installed the browser yet, you can get an installer from Opera’s download page.

Click the red O menu button in the upper left corner, and from the dropdown menu, click News.

The Opera menu.
