2023 Presidential Poll: Kwankwaso Won’t Drop Out of Race, NNPP

Date:

not in alliance talks with the PDP, he said this on Wednesday while addressing a press conference in Abuja.

“Our candidate will not resign for many reasons including competence, ability, vitality, articulation, and acceptability.

“Our members have been concerned because we have large crowds in the South and in the North.

“Our presidential candidate is running. Our gubernatorial candidates, Senate candidates, House candidates, and State House of Assembly candidates have been campaigning.

“Since we came up with this mantra for a new Nigeria, we have not engaged in unnecessary controversy. As a responsible party, we have been taken for granted.

“We are not in talks with any party,” he said.

He said that Kwankwaso is a forerunner in the pageant.

”The 2023 election is different. Some leaders whose agenda is to work for some candidates want a candidate from the north.

“We kept quiet when the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, said that he was the candidate of the North.

“They talk about a government of national unity. Nobody is talking about it.

“We are not planning an alliance with Atiku.

“You have to respect his age and you can’t force anyone to endorse you.” he said.

NAN reports that Abubakar on Tuesday hinted at his willingness to work with Kwankwaso and Peter Obi of the Labor Party after meeting with them to support their ambition in the upcoming election. He made it known in a 15-minute interview with the BBC Hausa service.

Speaking to the interviewer in the Hausa language, Atiku said that both Obi and Kwankwaso are not a threat to their chances of winning in the February 25 poll.

“Although I don’t see any threat from any of them, but we are in talks, and the discussion could lead to a positive result that will make one of them come.”
