Insecurity: Zamfara prohibits political gatherings and restricts movement in towns

This is to inform the general public that, following the recent wave of attacks against some communities in some local government areas of the state and the increasing cases of kidnapping in communities as well as along some major highways in the state, The government has considered and approved some Security Council recommendations aimed at restricting the activities of the thugs.

The government is saddened and concerned by the resurgence of bandit activities and the recent killings of some innocent people in Gusau, Tsafe, Gummi, Bukkuyum, Anka Bungudu, Maru, Maradun and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas.

For this reason, the Government commiserated with the families of the victims of the bandit attacks and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased. The government is also shocked by the killings of some of our brave security officers who lost their lives defending us. May their souls rest in peace. The Government expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attacks.

The general public is hereby informed that following the loss of life of our brothers and sisters, His Excellency the Executive Governor of the State of Zamfara, The Honorable Dr. Bello Muhammad, MON (Matawallen Maradun) has ordered the immediate suspension of all APC meetings and activities as part of your government concern and sympathy in this regard. Stakeholders invited for the APC Stakeholder Meeting on Friday, October 14, 2022 are advised to wait for a new meeting date. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Additionally, the government has suspended all political activities in the state until further notice. Political gatherings and gatherings at individual residences are also prohibited effective immediately, effective now.

At this point, the government has found it necessary to introduce some strict measures that may inadvertently harm everyone. However, the measures are aimed at curbing the bandits’ recent excesses with the overall goal of crippling their ability to attack our communities.

Measures include:

1. Full closure of Anka, Bukkuyum, and Gummi local government areas, as well as the following cities and towns:

Yarkofoji, Birnin Tudu, Rini, Gora Namaye, Janbako, Faru, Kaya, Boko and Mada.

All movements are restricted from now on in the aforementioned municipalities and municipalities. Security personnel have been ordered to deal ruthlessly with anyone who violates the restraining order.

2. The government also considered closing the markets in Danjibga and Bagega.

3. The government also closed the following roads, until further notice:

A. Colony to Lambar Boko Road
Road from B. Bakura to Lambar Damri
C. Mayanchi-Daki Takwas to Gummi Road
D. Daki Takwas to Zuru Road
E. Kucheri – Bawaganga – Wanke Road
F. Magami to Dangubi Road
Highway G. Gusau to Magami

These measures are taken to facilitate and allow our brave security officers to carry out their operations without hindrance. By this announcement, security personnel are ordered to deal ruthlessly with anyone who violates these orders.

The Government sincerely regretted any inconvenience caused to the general public by these measures.
