‘Proper response to negative politics’: Akhilesh Yadav blasts BJP over Pathaan success

Date:

As Shah Rukh Khan’s fans celebrate the success of his latest film ‘Pathaan’, the politics around the film is gaining ground as Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday. (BJP) and said Pathaan’s roar of success is an appropriate response to the BJP’s negative policy.

“To be a super hit of ‘Pathaan’ is a victory of positive thinking in the country and the world and a proper response from the people to the BJP’s negative policy,” the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh tweeted in Hindi.

The film ‘Pathaan’ came into the eye of the storm after some social groups were offended by one of its songs ‘Besharam Rang’, in which actress Deepika Padukone wore a saffron bikini. The song prompted some people on social media to claim that it hurts the religious feelings of a particular community and that calls to boycott the film were all the rage.

Those against the film included some BJP leaders such as Narottam Mishra and Ram Kadam, who accused the film makers of intentionally hurting religious sentiments.

Later, PM Modi commented on such boycott calls and asked BJP workers not to make unnecessary comments on the films. The Prime Minister added that these issues are irrelevant and become obstacles in the path of development.

Shah Rukh Khan also addressed the controversy, saying, “We are all playing characters to make you happy. If we say things in the movie, none of them are meant to hurt any feelings or hurt anyone. It’s just entertainment.”

Even after the boycott calls, Pathaan broke several records and is close to entering the $600 crore club. In India, the film became Shah Rukh Khan’s fastest film to win $300 crores and fans of the superstar who were a bit disappointed with his previous films claim that ‘Pathaan’ is the return of ‘King Khan’.

Pathaan is Aditya Chopra’s fourth film in the spy universe. The film follows Salman Khan’s “Ek Tha Tiger” (2012) and “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017), and “War” with Hrithik Roshan (2019).
