The actor is the father of two children, a daughter Ava, 23, and a son, 18, Deacon, with his ex-wife Reese Witherspoon and his appearance is regularly compared to the famous ex-couple, but Ryan insists that it is perfectly natural. for his offspring. to look so much alike.
He told ‘Extra’: “The thing that happens to me a lot lately is that they think Deacon looks like her and Ava looks like me. My response is always: ‘Duh… How does it surprise you that kids look alike? their parents?’ Isn’t that biologically how it’s supposed to work?”
Deacon has followed his parents into acting, landing a role in Netflix’s hit teen drama ‘Never Have I Ever,’ but Ryan is convinced his son hasn’t given up on his dream of becoming a musician.
He added: “I know you had a lot of fun making [‘Never Have I Ever’] and acting is something he can still do sometimes, but right now he’s very focused on his music career and being a musician.”
The actor went on to say that he just wants his children to be happy and pursue whatever career they choose.
He added: “These kids are lucky to have the opportunity they want, which is not something me or Reese could have said at that age, and we just want them to be happy. Life takes a lot of different twists and turns… I just want them to be happy”.
Ryan and Reese married in 1999 and divorced in 2007. The actor has another daughter from a later relationship, while Reese has a son with her second husband, Jim Toth.
