Steve Cooper showers Emmanuel Dennis with nice words after Aston Villa goal

Emmanuel Dennis could be set to start for Nottingham Forest in a 6-pointer against Wolverhampton Wanderers in 18th place

Cooper gave Dennis his first Premier League start of the season on Monday night against Steven Gerrard’s side at the City Ground on Monday 10 October.

The Nigerian international repaid his coach’s faith by scoring the first goal for Nottingham Forest, who drew 1-1 at 16th-placed Villa.

After the match, Cooper praised Dennis for his performance against Aston Villa, noting his patience before earning his first start for the club.

Dennis signed for Nottingham Forest on a £14.8m deal from Championship side Watford in mid-August and had started at Nottingham Forest once before the Aston Villa game.

“He has waited patiently. Emmanuel is an interesting player and I am delighted to give him his chance,” Cooper said. BBC Radio Nottingham as reported by daily post.

“I’m very happy to see him score and generally do well for the team.”

Dennis’s previous start for Nottingham Forest was against Grimsby Town in the EFL Carabao Cup on 23 August, where he provided an assist in a 3–0 win.

Since then, the former Club Brugge striker has made five Premier League substitute appearances for Nottingham Forest, failing to score or assist in any of them.

Dennis will hope to retain his place in Cooper’s starting XI when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday 15 October at Molineux Stadium.
