It all started with Barcelona of the Women’s Football League First Division promoting Nigerian Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala.
The five-time African Player of the Year was the MVP of the match contributing two goals and two assists.
Oshoala’s performance resulted in a post from Barcelona Femeni’s official Twitter account titled “Agba Baller”.
The post went viral as Nigerians interacted praising Oshoala but also expressing their satisfaction with the legend in a local dialect.
Cadiz and Nigeria
Shortly after Barcelona’s post, Spanish La Liga team Cadiz also made a post that referenced Nigeria.
In the video, an unknown figure wears the old Nigerian national team home jersey in the center of their stadium Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla.
Cádiz, 19th in the Spanish standings, explained the reason for his association with Nigeria as he has no players from the country.
Along with the video was a message that read: “Dani, one of our workers, arrived at the stadium today wearing the Nigeria team shirt.”
The Nigerian-related video generates massive social media interaction just like Oshoala’s.
Despite the Super Eagles failing to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Nigerian brand remains one associated with football.
