A group, Ball Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) Ambassadors, says that the greatest threat to any candidate from the Southwest geopolitical zone who becomes a national leader has always been from the zone.
Chief Afolabi Ekungba, Acting National Coordinator of BAT Ambassadors, made the comment on Sunday in lakes During an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria .
Ekungba was talking about the Senator’s electoral chances. Tinubu Ballthe All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, for the 2023 elections.
According to him, the problem with the zone in national politics is that the zone often pursues ideas that are never realistic.
“The people of Southwest will want to establish standards that politically do not function anywhere as if they were angels.
“They will always come up with different methods to bring theirs down.
“What they did to Chiefs Obafemi Awolowo and MKO Abiola, are good examples.
“So we need a group that is strong enough to tackle this,” Ekungba said.
Ekungba, former gubernatorial candidate in waved State, explained that BAT Ambassadors were formed primarily to address concerns in the Southwest.
He noted that the political support group had come up with two main strategies, including the room-to-room campaign mass movement strategy.
“We plan to reach every Yoruba man and woman, boy and girl one by one,” he said.
Ekungba said the other strategy was to use social and mainstream media to engage people.
“This is to meet the challenges of young people who are always glued to their phone and various social media handles,” he said.
Ekungba said that Tinubu and Shettima’s joint presidential ticket represented practical and demonstrable evidence of performance.
He said that, if allowed to be replicated at the national level, the ballot will produce the desired national growth and development in the shortest possible time.
“The country needs a man with the courage to stabilize the country’s ship; sustain the achievements of the past and project the country so that it reaches its full potential as the people want.
“We see in Tinubu, demonstrable evidence of that kind of courage.
We mean the courage to make tough decisions where it hurts for the benefit of the nation.
“We need a man with a mixed passion for the federal system of government.
“Only when Nigeria returns to federalism will our peaceful coexistence be able to produce geometrically exponential socio-economic development.
“We see in Tinubu, the unrepentant commitment to the ideas of true federalism
“We need a man who can consistently follow agreed ideas, not a fair-weather personality who jumps from boat to boat as suits his personal wishes or those of his cohorts,” Ekungba said.
He noted that more than 90 percent of BAT Ambassadors members are people who might not otherwise be ready to touch politics and politicking in Nigeria with a very long spoon.
Ekungba said the reality on the ground had forced them off their shelves.
