TOPSHOP is going into plus size? Oh yeah! TOP SHOP curve (the plus size line) It exists, thanks to ASOS. Last year, ASOS acquired the TOPSHOP and TOPMAN brands and this newly announced news (September 29th) it is part of its international growth strategy through its partnership with Nordstrom in the US.
We too are intrigued by this surprise! We not only have plus size options, but also big and tall options. We first saw the TOPSHOP Curve line at Nordstrom when we were looking for statement plus size coats for fall to share with you.
We had to communicate with the TOPSHOP and ASOS team to make sure we understood what was going on here. Because this is curious! Especially as the UK’s plus-size legacy brands have broken away from plus-size fashion in the US in recent years. (we miss you, Simply Be and Evans).
For this new chapter of TOPSHOP and TOPMAN, we have an updated logo, ASOS homepage and new sizing options. While the options are limited at first glance, TOPSHOP and TOPMAN will continue to introduce inclusive sizing through the Curve line. (plus sizes available in UK sizes 18-28) as well as executing plans to develop its Maternity, Tall and Petite collections.
With this acquisition, ASOS transitioned TOPSHOP and TOPMAN to a digital-first business to align with ASOS’ spirit and values. But here in the US, TOPSHOP and TOPMAN will also be available in 106 Nordstrom stores, as part of its brand expansion strategy.
Will this expansion include plus sizes in Nordstrom stores? We hope so…
You can shop TOPSHOP Curve’s first dropped plus size coats and jeans at ASOS.com!
We can soon expect a dedicated Curve section on the site that also features a greater diversity of models that is similar to what ASOS has been giving us in recent seasons. We hope you will also consider editorial inclusion.
It’s all about choice in plus size fashion and with this news we hope this extension becomes as complete as ASOS Curve is, without skimping on the tailored style that TOPSHOP is known for!
What do you think about this news? Does this excite you?
Are you on the fence? Are you going to wait and see what else drops from this TOPSHOP Curve collection?
