Odoh told reporters in abakaliki on Thursday, after his visit to the Izzi local government area in Ebonyi, that suspected members of the Ebubeagu security operation attacked his convoy and injured his supporters.
The gubernatorial candidate urged supporters of other political parties to support the peaceful campaign in the state and Nigeria usually.
According to him, no one can force anyone on anyone in Ebonyi before the 2023 general election.
“People are not stupid and they have the right to choose who becomes their leader.
This is not the way to administer democracy, we have the right to reach our people.
“I have a local government, we have North Ezza, South Ezza Ezza, Ishielu and Ikwo, won’t other parties come to campaign in these areas?
”, he added.
Regarding the alleged attack on his convoy by suspected Ebubeagu members in Izzi, Odoh noted that no one was injured.
“Nobody was hurt, but one of our cars was riddled with bullets.
“Yes, today we scheduled a visit to the local government of Izzi, because it is part of the State; it is one of 13 Local Government Areas in the state; we have our supporters and campaign office.
“As early as 6am this morning, I started receiving distress calls; one of our coordinators in the area called and said that some members of other political parties called and warned him that no visits should be made in the area.
“I am the candidate for APGA-at Ebonyi, Professor Bernard Odoh is my name; I’m in this race to run every local government in the State, so if I can’t go to Izzi, then I’m not qualified to run for election.
“That is why I had to go to Izzi, violating all his orders and threats, to go to the place.
“We were confronted by suspected members of Ebubeagu; One of our cars got shot up, glass shattered.
We went there with official security men, the police and DSS operatives and our campaign team.
“The political war is directed against us and we want the world to know what is happening in Ebonyi.
“We are not cowards or fools.
No one can force anyone on anyone in Ebonyi,” he explained.
Reacting to the development, Mr. friday nannaEbubeagu’s commander in Ebonyi, said the alleged attack on the APGA gubernatorial candidate’s convoy did not occur.
