Shohei Ohtani’s airport interview has drawn a lot of attention. Upon landing in Japan, Ohtani was asked what his favorite moment of the 2022 season was. He gave an answer that made headlines about Ohtani’s discontent with the Angels’ season. In the interview, Ohtani was also asked about the possibility of playing for Team Japan in the World Baseball Classic. Some of baseball’s best players have already committed to play, including teammate Mike Trout, who will serve as Team USA Captain.
So when asked about the possibility of playing in the World Baseball Classic, Ohtani left the door open.

“Many top-tier Major League players from the United States and Latin America have announced their participation,” Ohtani said. “Participating in this tournament is very attractive to me. I have that kind of feeling.”
