BWF Rankings: Lakshya Sen climbs to career-high 8th place

Date:

Commonwealth Games gold medalist bowler Lakshya Sen moved up one place to be a career-high eighth in the latest BWF Men’s Singles World Rankings.

The men’s doubles pairing of MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila also edged closer to the top 20 by jumping two places to a career-high 21st on the list issued on Tuesday. Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu remained in sixth place in the women’s singles rankings, while the pairing of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy are in eighth place in the men’s doubles section. Sen, 21, who had won a bronze at the 2021 World Championships, has been in brilliant form, starting the year with a gold medal at the Yonex-Sunrise India Open before finishing second at the prestigious All England. Open Championships and German Open.

He was also a key member of India’s historic Thomas Cup triumph after 73 years. The duo in the form of Arjun and Dhruv, on the other hand, have been making a steady climb up the rankings after starting the year in 42nd position.

Arjun and Dhruv, who recently won the 2022 India Maharashtra International Challenge title, are known for causing upsets. One such upset came at this year’s BWF World Championships, where it took just 40 minutes to stun then-world No. 8 Danish pair Kim Astrup and Anders Rasmussen.
