Canal+ International deploys Enenys OneBeam in Africa

Date:

Enensys Technologies, a leading provider of media delivery solutions, has announced that it has delivered a full Canal+ International upgrade for its EasyTV service in Africa. The operation consists of migrating the existing DVB-T2 network in Africa from a DVB-T2/T2MI standard over C-band delivery to a OneBeam DVB-SIS over Ku-band delivery. This migration allows Canal+ International to generate significant savings in OPEX satellite capacity by merging DTT distribution with its existing DTH distribution.

The use of the Ku-band DTH platform allows an excellent distribution of the DTT signal and avoids 5G interference. Enensys OneBeam DVB-SIS allows DVB T2 SFN network operation and centralized regionalization (different content per country). The first phase began with Guinea-Conakry before spreading to the main cities of several countries in equatorial Africa, such as the DRC, the Congo, the Ivory Coast and Cameroon. The system has been supplied through AUCOM, the sub-Saharan systems integrator and business partner of Enensys, after extensive testing by the Canal+ International teams.

Commenting on the development, Cedric Vialle, VP of Broadcast & Set top box solution at Canal + International, said: “We are pleased to use this Enensys OneBeam solution which has allowed us to adapt our DTH distribution to a DVB-T2 transport for our transmitters. DTT efficiently. We have also been looking for an integrated monitoring solution to assist us in the maintenance and operation of all of our Broadcast transmission and we are pleased that the EdgeProbe solution meets this requirement.”

Didier Farcy, Enenys VP of Sales for EMEA, added: “We are delighted that Canal+ International has selected the Enenys OneBeam solution to reuse their current DTH services as a source of DTT services. We have worked closely with the Canal+ teams throughout their evaluation and testing of our solution. We were able to provide a complete solution that met all Canal+ International requirements, including SFN operation and monitoring.”

Villiers Joubert, CEO of AUCOM, stated: “We are honored that Canal+ International has strengthened our relationship by appointing us again as their system integrator in Africa for the deployment of the Enenys OneBeam DVB-T2 solution to optimize their DTT transmission in Africa. . As a local partner of Enenys in Sub-Saharan Africa, it has been a challenging but rewarding journey for me and my team for this first deployment of an innovative solution on the continent with the expectations of Canal+ International”.
