Flu Shots Now Available at the Jefferson County General Health District | News, Sports, Jobs

STEUBENVILLE — Flu shots are now available at the Jefferson County General Health District.

Flu season in the United States begins in October, peaks between December and February, and can last as late as May, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Jefferson County residents can visit the Steubenville office on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Toronto office is open for walk-ins every Monday from 9 am to 3 pm If you prefer to schedule your appointment, please call (740) 283-8530.

In addition to the main office locations, the health district will be mobile throughout the month of October:

— Tuesday: Rayland Volunteer Fire Department, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

— Thursday: Smithfield Food Pantry, 9 am to 11 am; and Dillonvale – Mount Pleasant Branch Library 1 pm to 3 pm

— Friday: Tiltonsville Water Department from 9:30 am to 11:30 am

— October 19: Mount Pleasant Fire Hall: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

— Oct. 26: Fort Steuben Mall Parking Lot: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Mobile clinics are currently being scheduled in Richmond and Salineville, and officials said those details will be announced once plans are finalized.

Those wishing to get a flu shot should bring their insurance card. The vaccine costs $25 for those without insurance and is free for those who qualify.
