Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu reveals the reason for his scoring streak at KRC Genk

Date:

Onuachu has bounced back with 6 goals in 4 games after failing to score in his first 6 games for Genk this season.

The 28-year-old Nigerian striker has scored six (6) goals in his last four (4) league games, taking his club to the top of the Belgian league.

This comes after the Super Eagles star suffered a slump earlier in the season, failing to score in his first six (6) league games of the season.

Onuachu suffered an injury during pre-season which presumably affected his form as he started the new season with Genk after finishing as Wouter Vrancken-led side’s top scorer during the 2021/22 season.

After recovering, the forward scored his second double of the season in a 6-1 demolition of KVC Westerlo on Tuesday.

However, Onuachu noted that his big win over Westerlo was due to Genk’s hard work and listening to the coach’s instructions rather than Westerlo being an easy opponent.

According to sporza as reported by walfootOnuachu said, “Everyone did their job and knew what they had to do. It’s not correct to say that everything went in. It’s just the result of our work.”

“We pressed well. We played as the coach wanted. We played. I’m very happy with this victory.”

Furthermore, Onuachu revealed that his recent goal-scoring form is due to nothing more than him working hard on the training ground.

The striker of the Super Eagles assured that his style of play has not changed and he hopes that the goals will continue to arrive.

“I haven’t changed the way I play. The goals keep coming and I keep working. These goals are the result of my hard work in training,” concluded Onuachu.

The Nigerian international hopes to continue his fine form in front of goal when Genk visit second-placed Royal Antwerp on Sunday 23 October at the Bosuilstadion in a top-flight clash.
