Quick start for Real Madrid, as Luka Modric converted a ball from Vinicius Junior in the 5th minute.

Real Madrid went into the break with a 1-0 lead. Sevilla would respond in the second half with a quick start and the tie would come with the assistance of Erik Lamela for Gonzalo Montiel in the 54th minute.

Carlo Ancelotti made three changes and with a lot of pressure, Real Madrid would take the lead again when Vinicius Junior got his second assist of the game, finished off by Lucas Vásquez in the 78th minute.

In the 81st minute, Federico Valverde unleashed a rocket after receiving the ball from Marco Asensio to put Real Madrid ahead by two goals.

They held on to their lead to win and are now six points clear of fierce rivals Barcelona.

Speaking after the match, Real Madrid manager Ancelotti revealed that Valverde suffered an injury.

He said: “Valverde’s concern was a blow, but it doesn’t seem like anything serious.”

Ancelotti also congratulated Vinicius Junior for providing two assists in the match.

And he added: “I congratulate Vini because his 2 assists today are better than a goal. He should leave the match very happy”.

“Vini’s level is very high, now he needs continuity. That’s the only thing you need, keep up the level.”

Real Madrid return to action in the Champions League when they travel to face RB Leipzig on Tuesday 25 October 2022.
